Career and Technical Education Programs
Developed in partnership with over 2400 voices including students, staff, families, and community members, West Valley School District created its strategic plan for 2024 - 2030. This plan is student-centered and future-focused. One of four goals for are our students is Career Pathways.
The West Valley School District #208 offers many career and technical education courses focused on helping students explore and prepare for in-demand career pathways.
At the Mid-Level Campus students can explore connections between their foundational core subject matter and career applications through courses like 6th-grade STEM, 7th-grade science focusing on Health and Human Body Systems, Computer Essentials, Sustainable Living, Construction and Engineering Technology, Aerospace and Drone Technology, JROTC, and 8th-grade science with connections to energy, material science, and engineering.
Students in 7th - 12th grades can also choose to enroll in the Innovation Center which provides students the opportunity in 7th - 9th grades to explore through Mastery-Based Learning Health Science, Computer Science, STEM - Aerospace, and Robotics/Agriscience. In 10th - 12th grades, students focus on their chosen programs, increasing their professional, academic, and technical skills and progress toward Work-Based Learning opportunities in that program, graduating with a clear path to employment, apprenticeship, enlistment, and post-secondary enrollment.
Students at the High School have multiple courses and programs to choose from, ideally taking multiple courses in the same program to prepare them for a successful future in their career pathway. Courses and programs offered include agriculture, art and graphic design, business and marketing, computer science, construction, education, financial algebra, forensic science, JROTC, health science, sports therapy, transition-to-work, welding, and more. Students in these courses can join FFA, DECA, or other clubs, earn industry certifications, earn college credit, and more.
These career and technical education courses operate under the District’s non-discrimination and open admissions policies which are posted to the District’s website.
