Mountainview students earn recognition

Jul 26, 2023

Two students from Mountainview Elementary recently earned recognition for their mechanical design projects.

Evelyn Kublic won first place, and, Harper Pearce won second place in the Leavenworth Nutcracker Museum competition.

Every year, the Leavenworth Nutcracker Museum holds a contest for student-built nutcrackers. Mary Lewis, fifth grade teacher at Mountainview Elementary, explained, “In November and December I had my fifth graders study the history of nutcrackers, including materials used and the science of simple machines used in various styles. Then they each designed and created their own, and we tested them in class. Students who wanted to, and had permission forms completed were able to enter the contest.”

Winners were announced on June 24, 2023 at the Leavenworth Nutcracker Museum. More information about the competition is available via the museum’s website: www.KidsLoveNutcrackers.com
