Staff Spotlight: Lyn Cox

Lyn Cox has joined the Mid-Level Campus “Ramily” this school year, teaching eighth grade students science during the school day and sharing her love of art with students with a new club after school.

This new club meets after school on Mondays and Wednesdays with a focus on “inking.” This after school club – called the “thINK Tank” – is available for all students in all grade levels at the Mid-Level Campus. This club is for students who are interested in exploring a creative opportunity to link science and art.

Students in the “thINK Tank” have learned basic inking techniques, created landscapes and, most recently, they learned how to create ink flowers. Future projects include creating dream catchers and exploring inking with other art media such as ceramics, metal, and glass.

In addition to creating unique art pieces, students are able to work on becoming more self-aware so that they may grow in the areas of communication, self-advocacy, developing healthy relationships, and making positive decisions.

In the realm of education, there are those exceptional individuals who not only inspire their students in the classroom but also inspire students pursue their creative passions outside of class. Ms. Cox's teaching of inking is a testament to the power of passion, dedication, and the endless possibilities that lie at the intersection of science and creativity.
