Bailey Lowry is a Washington STEM Rising Star!

Bailey Lowry, a student at the West Valley Innovation Center, has been named the South Central Washington STEM Network’s 2023 Washington STEM Rising Star.

“Bailey is a constant positive leader in the classroom, helping her peers and older classmates complete the many skills, tasks, and certifications within her pathway,” says Eric Curnutt, a Career and Technical Education instructor at the West Valley School District.

The Washington STEM Rising Star Awards recognize young women who explore STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) in ways that will support their education, career, personal development, and community. The awardees were nominated by their schools and selected in partnership with regional networks. They will receive a $500 stipend and will be celebrated at Washington STEM’s 2023 Summit luncheon.

“The data show that a strong cradle-to-career STEM education prepares students for high-demand, household-sustaining jobs,” says Lynne K. Varner, CEO of Washington STEM. “The Rising Star Awards highlight the next generation of leaders and encourage girls and young women to explore STEM education and careers.”

During the summer of 2022, Bailey attended a program at George Mason University in Virginia. She and her team were able to design, create, and publish a video game. Inspired by this experience, Bailey founded her own company named Obelisk Mythos Studios (OMS).

Estudiante del Centro de Innovación celebrado como estrella emergente

Bailey Lowry, estudiante del Centro de Innovación de West Valley, ha sido nombrade estrella emergente de Washington STEM 2023 por la South Central Washington STEM Network.

“Bailey es un líder positivo constante en el salon, ya que ayuda a compañeros de su misma edad y mayores a completar las muchas habilidades, tareas y certificaciones dentro de sus conocimientos,”, dice Eric Curnutt, instructor de Educación Profesional y Técnica en el Distrito Escolar de West Valley.

Los premios Washington STEM Rising Star reconocen a los estudiantes jóvenes que exploran STEM (Ciencia, Tecnología, Ingeniería y Matemáticas) de forma que apoyen su educación, su carrera, su desarrollo personal y su comunidad. Los estudiantes fueron propuestos por sus centros escolares y seleccionados en colaboración con redes regionales. Recibirán un estipendio de $500 y serán homenajeados en el almuerzo de la Cumbre 2023 de Washington STEM.
